In The Midst Of Hardship
This poem is about hardship borne by the villagers and how they deal with it. These villagers work hard the whole day and go through much difficulty in life. However they do not complain or despair. They are able to brave harsh weather condition and loss of property but accept all these hardship as part of life. They are able to joke and enjoy some simple pleasures of life.

He Had Such Quite Eyes
This poem is about a girl who was cheated in love by a man. It describes how the girl was deceived by the man's eyes that seemed to be calm and gentle. However, the man's intention was to take advantage of her. The girl expresses regret over what had happened. The last paragraph gives advice about being careful in the choice of friends.
